Brian Eidson, a member of Clayton Chapter in Ellenwood, was selected
as the Georgia DeMolay Online "DeMolay of the Month" for March
2003. Brian was recently installed as the Illustrious Knight Commander of the
State Priory of Georgia, the head of that appendant body of Georgia DeMolay.
He is also a Past Master Councilor's Meritorious Service Award recipient.
He has been a member of DeMolay since November 24, 1996. We sat down with Brian to
learn a little more about him....
GDO:
Brian, congratulations on your selection as GDO's March DeMolay
of the Month. We want our web site visitors to learn a little more
about you and your DeMolay career. How did you find out about and get
involved with DeMolay?
Brian:
The pest control guy (Dad Honea) that my mom hired talked a lot and
got me interested in the organization.
GDO:
What do you like best about DeMolay?
Brian:
The fact that the youth make the decisions for the chapter.

Brian (right) always has a great time with his friends from DeMolay.

GDO:
You've just been elected and installed as the State Priory's
Illustrious Knight Commander, the youth leader of the Knighthood
program in Georgia. Some of our readers may not be familiar with what
the Knighthood program offers to DeMolays in Georgia. Could you
briefly sum up the purpose and goals of the Knighthood program in
Georgia as well as why DeMolays should be excited to join the
organization?
Brian:
The purpose of Knighthood in Georgia is to keep the older members
in the Order of DeMolay active while providing a means for these
older members to participate in activities with those of their
own age group. Knighthood also provides a means for these older
members to give back to an organization has given a lot to them.
GDO:
What are your plans for your term as Illustrious Knight Commander
this year?
Brian:
To have fun and to create interest in Knighthood.
GDO:
It seems that, historically, Knighthood's success in Georgia has had
much to do with the success of the person serving as Illustrious Knight Commander.
The outgoing Illustrious Knight Commander has left some big shoes to
fill. However, as a PMC-MSA recipient, you are extremely qualified to
fill those shoes. How do you plan to continue and build on the
momentum created from last term?
Brian:
I have incorporated many successful aspects of PIKC Perry Bennett’s
term into mine and threw in several improvements of my own.

Brian, with his friend Jodie.

GDO:
Ritual is another area of DeMolay in which you excel. DeMolays
across the state have noted your fine performances as Jacques DeMolay
in the DeMolay Degree. What advice would you give to aspiring young
DeMolays trying to learn those very long and difficult parts?
Brian:
Continue working at it and don’t stop, success is in the amount of
time you spend, and demand the best of yourself.
GDO:
Outside of DeMolay, what are your other interests and activities?
Brian:
I usually stay busy with work and friends when not working on Knighthood stuff.
GDO:
Thank you for your time, Brian, and congratulations again on your
selection as GDO's DeMolay of the Month!
Brian:
Thank you.
